Thirty-year-old Petrus Stephanus Petrus, a dynamic striker born and raised in Omaputu in the Ohangwena region, is making waves in Namibia’s football scene as he plies his trade with Ongos FC.
He most recently played for Mighty Gunners FC, where he was the team’s leading goal scorer for two seasons in a row. Prior to that, Petrus demonstrated his talent with Tigers FC and Civics, progressively establishing himself as one of the country’s most promising forwards. Currently, Petrus is the league’s top goal scorer with six goals, demonstrating his sharp movements and clinical finishing on the field. He has a dream to play for the Namibian national team and represent his country on the international stage.
“I am learning a lot under my coach Ronnie Kanalelo. He guides me to make the right moves and decisions on the pitch. Every day, I improve under his supervision, and I aspire to learn more from him,” he said.
Although Petrus has yet to be called up for the national team trials, he is determined to make his name at the local level by consistently performing well.
The message to his fellow footballers is to remain disciplined, patient, do the right thing, work hard, and when the time comes, “God will make it happen.”
Going forward, Petrus is determined to win the golden boot for the 2025/2026 season, a goal he is pursuing with passion and perseverance. As it stands, Ongos FC is sixth on the log, with 18 points from 13 matches. The league is set to resume on 30 January. -matheusshitongenidavid@gmail. com
