Organisers upbeat ahead of NTA’s final tourney

Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) spokesperson Larushka Kruger has expressed satisfaction with the number of entries received so far for their final senior tournament of the year.

The event is set for this weekend at the Central Tennis Club in Olympia, Windhoek.

The tournament will feature singles and doubles events, with top local players expected to compete for honours.

Although Kruger did not disclose the exact number of entries, she confirmed that the turnout has been promising.

“This is the last big tournament of the year. We expect all our top players to pitch up and make it the best event of the season. I’m happy with the entries we’ve received so far, which include some prominent names. I believe fans can look forward to top-quality tennis this weekend,” she said.

Kruger added that the competition will be strictly local, with no international participants.

“This will be a good opportunity for our players to test themselves against each other. The tournament will also help them accumulate points that count toward their local and continental ratings,” she stated.

With a packed 2025 calendar that saw Namibian players gain exposure both at home and abroad, Kruger said fans should expect a high standard of tennis to close off the year.

“So much tennis has been played this season. Many of our athletes got the chance to compete on bigger stages. I believe this final event will produce fireworks and keep fans on the edge of their seats,” she said.

Entries are pegged at N$150 for singles and N$300 for doubles.
