Funding is crucial for talent development - NVF …as MTC commits N$3m to NVF

Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) president Hilary Imbuwa says the N$3 million sponsorship will assist in nurturing talent.

He was speaking at a sponsorship unveiling event, where MTC announced a N$3 million total sponsorship for the NVF for the next three years.

The funds will be used to establish a national league, which will be called the MTC NVF National Volleyball League, consisting of an initial eight teams for both men and women.

Imbuwa said the money will come in handy as they have been looking for funds that will assist the federation with so many things, which also include the development of the sport itself and developing talent.

“The MTC Volleyball National League will not just be a competition; it will be a platform for nurturing talent, fostering sportsmanship, and building a strong sense of community within the volleyball fraternity. With MTC’s generous support, we can now expand our reach, enhance the league’s infrastructure, and provide even greater opportunities for our athletes to showcase their skills on a national stage. As a federation, we are fully aware of the responsibilities that come with this sponsorship. We are honoured and privileged to have them as partners in our journey to elevate volleyball to new heights,” he said.

He added that as a federation, they are fully aware of the responsibilities that come with this sponsorship, and they pledge to use these funds judiciously and transparently.

“Our goal is to make the MTC Volleyball National League a beacon of excellence, inspiring the next generation of volleyball enthusiasts and contributing to the overall sporting landscape in Namibia. To the leadership and team of MTC, we extend our deepest gratitude,” said the federation president.

Meanwhile, MTC’s Chief Human Capital, Marketing, and Corporate Affairs Officer Tim Ekandjo said they are delighted to be partnering with the NVF.

“It’s a privilege to partner with the volleyball federation, and we as MTC love to partner with people where there is value. But with the passion I saw the other day when I attended a match at UNAM, we decided to partner with them because of the passion volleyball players show,” said Ekandjo.

The newly established league will feature teams that won their regional championships (seven active regions currently) and the winners of the annual NVF Cup in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
