Magic Ladies have capacity to win league

Tura Magic Ladies Football Club defender Lydiana Nanamus has expressed confidence in her team’s overall ability and potential to win the FNB Women’s Super League title at the end of the season, saying this past weekend’s wins were again proof of that ability.

Magic Ladies continued with their good run when they defeated Khomas Nampol 1-0 on Saturday, before securing a hard-fought 1-0 win against Girls and Goals on Sunday.

Summing up the successful weekend, Nanamus said she was particularly impressed with their fighting spirit and capacity to scrape points when it seemed impossible at times.

“We always put up a great fight, and that’s precisely what we went for over the weekend. We had a plan, and we stuck to it because we understood the assignment and the importance of collecting those maximum points. Our opponents were good and also with highly-talented players, but we had to prioritise collecting maximum points and march on,” she beamed.

As defending champions, Nanamus said it was important that they remain composed, and take it one match at a time. She remains fully confident that they have what it takes to lift the league trophy, and maintains that they should continue putting in the work in order for that dream to be realised.

“Our team comprises outstanding players, and I don’t mean any disrespect to the other clubs, but we have to focus on ourselves and strive to do our best. However, we cannot afford to get ahead of ourselves. We must take it game by game, and ensure that we earn the maximum points with every match that comes,” she added.

The weekend’s other results saw Girls and Goals overrunning Right Ways by a resounding 5-0 victory, while Arrows Ladies clinched a 3-1 win against Okahandja.

Beauties triumphed over Namib Daughters by 5-0, and Ongwediva Queens secured a 1-0 win over NUST Babes. V-Power Angels emerged as 1-0 winners over Ramblers.

On Sunday, Arrows Ladies continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory against Beauties, while V-Power Angels and Ongwediva Queens played to a two-all draw. Okahandja played to a 1-1 draw against Namib Daughters, and Khomas Nampol defeated Right Way by 3-0. Ramblers also made a strong statement with an 8-3 win over NUST Babes.
