Wanderers look to maintain great run…as United take on Unam

Wanderers, the current leaders of the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) league, will be determined to widen the gap at the summit, as they are set to face off against Grootfontein Rugby Club in their upcoming match this weekend.

Having won in eight out of their ten matches and securing two draws, Wanderers currently reign supreme with a total of 42 points.

However, hot on their heels is Kudus, a coastal team, who are in second position with an impressive 39 points from ten games.

Following closely behind in third place is United, trailing Kudus by just one point with a total of 38 points. Western Suburbs, based in Khomasdal, take the fourth spot in the standings.

This weekend’s eagerly anticipated clash presents yet another crucial opportunity for the defending champions to solidify their position at the top and enhance their prospects of finishing within the top four.

Dirk Human, the head coach at Wanderers, in an interview with this publication expressed his team’s determination to emerge victorious in the upcoming encounter.

He affirmed the players are mentally prepared and confident in their ability to secure maximum points on the road.

“We anticipate a challenging match against Grootfontein, but we must believe in ourselves if we wish to sustain our momentum. It’s an integral aspect of the game to face formidable opponents, and we are fully prepared for this particular challenge. We acknowledge that playing against Grootfontein is no easy task, but we remain resolute in our readiness to confront them,” stated Human.

He added that training has gone well this week, despite the harsh weather. He also said there are a few players ruled out but remained optimistic ahead of tomorrow’s encounter.

“We have a couple of players ruled out, but we remain determined,” he added

Other fixtures on Saturday feature other enthralling matches.

Reho Falcon will welcome visitors, Rehoboth, in another captivating encounter.

Meanwhile, United will face off against Unam in a match that promises to captivate spectators.

Western Suburbs, on their home turf, will host Kudus, the formidable coastal team, in what is anticipated to be another exhilarating showdown this weekend.
