We needed the win - Gure ...as Ongos Ladies put 11 past Daughters

Ongos Ladies FC head coach Shama Gure has said their Sunday win against Namib Daughters in the FNB Women Super League shows they are moving in the right direction.

Ongos, who are also the defending champions of the women's league, picked up vital points on Sunday, beating Namib Daughters with an 11-1 score.

Gure described the win as a step in the right direction. "We always set it as our target to win every match we play, and that's what we went to do: collect points. I am proud of how the team played; they showed why they are number one in the league. We want to continue dominating the league," he said.

In terms of the way forward, he said the team will regroup and work on their next fixtures. "Time to go back to the gym, regroup, and work on our shortcomings. But for now, I believe we must keep a positive mind and make sure we are on our way to getting the title," he added.

In other fixtures on Sunday, Beauties defeated UNAM Bokkies 2-0, while Girls and Goals played to a 1-all draw against Nampol. V-Power Angels secured a 6-3 decisive win against Okahandja. Meanwhile, Hoebeb, the head coach of Girls and Goals, who secured a win on Saturday, reflected on the game and the second leg, which he said has been tough so far.

"Every team has come prepared for the second leg, and the matches are getting intense every weekend. But I am excited for this round and looking forward to all the games," said the coach.

"On the win today, I think we deserve it, and we showed up as a team, and the results show. We were a better team, and we will continue building from the win and move forward," emphasised the coach.
