A 33-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday last week for allegedly stealing a donkey at Opumbu village in the Oshana Region.
According to information provided by the police, the suspect was found slaughtering the donkey in an open space at around 23h00 on Wednesday.

Oshana police spokesperson Warrant Officer Thomas Aiyambo told New Era that a member of the community alerted the police at Oshakati to the incident and a case of theft was subsequently opened.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to make his first court appearance in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week.
Aiyambo could not provide further details, as investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, in the location of Okandjengedi near Oshakati, a 26-year-old man reportedly committed suicide on Monday last week at around 09h00 in the morning. The police report has it that the deceased hanged himself with a rope in his bedroom. The deceased, who has not yet been named, left a suicide note, but the police would not share its content.

In the same region, a middle-aged man from Oshakati sustained slight injuries when a car he was driving overturned. The accident occurred along the Okatana-Oshakati main road on Sunday evening when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
