In light of its purpose ‘Creating a Future, Enhancing Life’, the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group has confirmed that Pick n Pay (PnP) Namibia has once again stressed its commitment to the national agenda of ‘Growth at Home’. The Namibian brand ‘Nam Flava’ – a product of Namibian and international artist Ees – is listed by PnP Namibia and is officially on shelf at selected PnP stores countrywide, as from March 1.
PnP Namibia Managing Director Norbert Wurm said: “We are focused on creating local value in Namibia, thereby supporting the local economy. Nam Flava is an authentic and truly Namibian brand and thus speaks to this objective of supporting local ‘Proudly Namibian’ products. Pick n Pay Namibia has always been supportive of small businesses and suppliers by integrating them into our supply chain – whether it be through products or services. This determination to play a strong and positive role in small businesses and the communities we serve contributes to the prosperity of Namibia as a whole and therefore we remain dedicated to support, scale and sustain them. We have many local products present on our shelves, from fresh produce, meat, milk, canned fish, soft drinks, beer, pasta, eggs, cleaning materials, toiletries, chocolates and many more. Our products are labelled as made in Namibia and also form part of our ‘Proudly Namibian’ initiatives in collaboration with Team Namibia. We are continuously working on increasing our sourcing from local producers in line with our purpose ‘Creating a Future, Enhancing Life’ for every Namibian.”
PnP Namibia Brand Manager Victoria Forbes expressed excitement about the message the Nam Flava brand spreads. “The Nam Flava brand is one that we believe carries the spirit of our national pride. Namibia is a unique country with unique people and what better way to show your support than through this platform. Nam Flava is as unique as Namibia and her people. In support of the preservation and sustainability of our natural resources, we are also proud to announce that Nam Flava will donate N$10 from each sale of every pair of shoes to the Rhino Trust. This shows the commitment that this brand has towards Namibia’s natural resources.”
Founder of Nam Flava footwear EES tells his story: “It all started with a friend who roughly sketched and posted a pair of shoes with the Namibia flag on it. I decided to make myself a pair in America in 2011. I wore those pair of shoes to many of my public appearances, shows and even music videos and received overwhelming response from my fans. That is where the Nam Flava journey began. I had my first stock made at Cymot and the rest is history. I am very happy that Pick n Pay Namibia is supporting local products so well, and I am excited that even more Namibians will now have a chance to get hold of a pair of Nam Flava footwear at a Pick n Pay store near them.”
