Home Time Out Poetry book launched

WINDHOEK– Local poet, Julia Amukoshi, launched her book, Tales of the Rainbow, a collection of poems in English, last week.

Tales of the Rainbow features poems about love, personal hardships, Namibian struggle for independence, poverty and other themes. Amukoshi read some pieces from her work including City Friday a poem about the hardship people in the city are going through.  “What comes to mind when writing is a feeling I don’t know how to describe. Only I know. I get inspired, I get happy and I put it into words. I want to take people on a trip with my writing.” Amukoshi said.

Amukoshi is a writer and a part time lecturer at the Language Centre of the University of Namibia (Unam). She is from Onekondjelo in the Northern part of Namibia whose hobby is to paint pictures with words. In 2008 some of her poems were published in the first bi-monthly Poetree booklet that was launched by Township Production. In 2009, Amukoshi was one of the poets to represent Namibia at the SADC Poetry Festival, which took place in Windhoek.

Tales of the Rainbow is available for N$120 from the  Book Den in Windhoek and at Swakopmunder Buchhandlung in Swakopmund. The book will be available country wide soon. For more information contact Amukoshi at jamukoshi@gmail.com
