OMUTHIYA – The Oshikoto police have arrested an octogenarian man last weekend for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl at Okalevona location at Oniipa.

The incident happened on Friday around 18h00 in the residence of the 84-year-old pensioner, where he was allegedly caught red-handed.

According to Oshikoto crime investigation officer Paulus Endjala, the suspect and victim are neighbours and not related in any way. The suspect’s details are known but cannot be named until he appears in court.

Still, in Oniipa, Endjala said a murder case was registered when a 23-year-old man was discovered dead in the bushes near Iihongo cuca shops.

“The deceased was found with multiple stab wounds at the back: two times on the left side of the chest and twice on his right arm. The suspect is still unknown,” he said.

The victim is identified as Eliaser Showa. The next of kin have been informed.

Furthermore, a culpable homicide was also reported when two drivers of a Polo Vivo and Toyota Corolla collided head-on between Omuthiya and Ondangwa. The incident happened around 18h00 at Osipita; Endjala said they are busy investigating the circumstances of the accident.

“Both drivers were declared dead on arrival at Onyaanya health centre. They are identified as FNB branch manager for Omuthiya, Toivo Panduleni Mbeeli (41) from Onayena, as well as Abner Shindondola (38) from Onyaanya,” states the report.

The next of kin for both victims have been informed.
