2016-05-24Staff Report 2 Windhoek Swapo’s acting president and Namibia’s Head of State Hage Geingob says those who have any doubts about the recently-launched Swapo Party School should be reminded that quality of life is enhanced by knowledge and culture and values constitute true quality of life. Officiating at the launch of the party’s school yesterday, Geingob emphasised that there is sincere hope on the part of party leaders that the school will serve to safeguard the party’s tradition and cultures. Former deputy prime minister and Swapo stalwart Marco Hausiku will head the institution as its interim rector for the next 12 months, assisted by a board chaired by Swapo secretary general Nangolo Mbumba, while founding president Sam Nujoma has been appointed as its patron. The school is currently at the former premises of Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Regional Secretariat, a piece of land now owned by former education minister and International University of Management owner David Namwandi. “To ensure that our current and future cadre are equipped to face the challenges of modern domestic, regional and global politics and socio-economics, we must ensure that the knowledge and culture of Swapo and the ethos of solidarity, freedom and justice remain at the core of the decision-making process,” explained Geingob He added that by equipping Swapo cadre with knowledge, they would be able to safeguard the continued improvement of the quality of life of Namibians, as well as the development of the country. “It is only through the acquiring of knowledge, principles and values that we will be able to effectively implement our developmental objectives and in so doing, provide food, shelter and clothing to our citizens,” said Geingob. The event was attended among others by former National Assembly speaker Theo-Ben Gurirab, former Swapo Party secretary general Ngarikutuke Tjiriange, Vice-President Nickey Iyambo, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, former minister of gender Rosalia Nghidinwa and Swapo regional coordinators. 2016-05-24Staff Report 2
