Although they still have a few points to collect to fully cement their survival, veteran gaffer James Britz is happy with the work done so far to ensure Tigers move out of the relegation zone and boost its chances of playing topflight football next season.

During the first round of the Debmarine Namibia Premiership, Tigers was a perennial contestant in the relegation dogfight along with the likes of Citizens, Eleven Arrows and Black Africa.

But following the arrival of Britz in the Shandumbala outfit’s dugout on a two-month contract, Tigers has since rediscovered its form and has fashioned out a string of decent results in their last rounds of matches, which has now firmly set them on the path to avoid relegation.

“I’m happy with the job done so far, although we still have a few more points to collect before we can safely say we have evaded relegation. But where I found the team when I came in and where we are today, says a lot about the players’ hard work and what we want to achieve as a club. I’m truly happy with the job done so far and the dedication of the players and management. We can still do much better,” said an optimistic Britz, whose side was set to face Okahandja United yesterday afternoon.

Despite a few remaining challenging fixtures, Britz remains fully focused on the club’s bigger goals, which are to avoid relegation and ensure they prepare better for next season.

“Although I was brought in on a two-month contract, I’m happy that I could contribute to the long-term objectives of the club, which is to survive regelation this season and position itself better for next season. With a few matches now left to play, we have a great chance to finish strong and plan better for next season, and I trust my players will go all out strong to ensure we achieve our goals.”
