WINDHOEK - Bank Windhoek in collaboration with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), through the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED) will host local entrepreneurs, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for start-up and SME seminars based on Business Models.
The seminars are scheduled for Windhoek (September 10), Walvis Bay (September 12), Ongwediva (September 17) and Rundu (September 19).
As with previous years, the seminars will be facilitated by internationally recognised industry expert based at Credit Suisse in London, Greg Collett. He has been with Credit Suisse Group for 17 years and heads the Custom Solutions Group, a specialist team that works with fund managers to provide advice on the investment process.
“The Start-Up and SME seminar is ideal for all entrepreneurs who want to start or grow their businesses further. The seminar will focus on how entrepreneurs can develop their business models and make it relevant for their customers. It will also place emphasis on business finances and how entrepreneurs can align their finances with their business model,” said NUST’s SME Development Officer from the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED), Helena Ilovu. She added that NUST is delighted to have Bank Windhoek on-board for the second successive year.
“Both Bank Windhoek and NUST want to see Namibia’s SME sector grow. This is the ideal opportunity to showcase how such partnerships can equip entrepreneurs to flourish. We hope that all the participants at these events are able to implement their learnings and thrive in their businesses,” said Bank Windhoek’s Sponsorship and Events Coordinator, Suzette January.
The CED was established in 2000 to facilitate capacity building initiatives for the public, private and NGO sectors.
Through standardised and tailor-made training initiatives, baseline research and strategies to alleviate poverty, CED assists with markets diversification and developing the local labour force. Having built a reputation for accountability and transparency, CED has managed third party contracts worth millions of dollars.
Its approach is client driven and provides customised SME development, information and communication technology (ICT) training and testing, short courses, industry focused programmes and consulting, social science research as well as partnering initiatives. Up to date skills transfer to over 14 000 participants was done since its inception.
