NUST Students to showcase talents

WINDHOEK - The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) on Monday launched its third fashion show that again see student designers showcasing their best garments and other accessories under the theme, Futuristic Afro.

The show is this Friday at the NUST Lower campus. Topping it up, NUST has partnered with MultiChoice Namibia to make the event bigger. According to organisers, all designers and models are NUST students and the event is an opportunity for NUST students to showcase their talents. Diego Tayala, the Fashion Show Director says there will be five student designers and 25 models hitting the catwalk. He adds that as the theme of the event states, Futuristic Afro, they want to re-imagine on how local designs will look in the next ten years.

The show aims at promoting new brands as well as showcasing the hidden talents of students. For the past two years, the event attracted many fashion lovers, and at the same time providing a good platform to students to showcase their hidden talents. Samwel Matenda, one of the student designers who will be showcasing 17 pieces, says his collection is focusing on black and white, with an African touch. Miles Meroro will be showcasing his Afro-fusion designs, which will have a combination of different colours. He will showcase seven garments.

The event starts at 19h00, normal tickets are N$ 50, while VIP tickets goes for N$ 100.
