Unearthing talent remains our business - Benhard

Chairman of the MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club Joseph Benhard says unearthing raw talents and providing opportunities to young boxers remain at the core of their business.

He said this coming weekend will be no exception.

The MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club will this coming weekend host the ‘The Young Shall Grow Part 2’ Boxing Bonanza at the Oshakati Independence stadium, where young and upcoming boxers will feature prominently on the night’s card.

The event, according to Benhard, will once again serve as a platform for beginner pugilists from the northern parts of the country to showcase their talents.

“The boxers are ready as they have been training nonstop for the last few months. We are just looking forward to this weekend so that we can rock. Our aim is to develop talent in this country, that’s why we mostly specialize in hosting amateur boxers. We want to develop these young boxers so that they turn professional and feed themselves in the future. We are expecting all amateur boxers from the northern regions to come and compete at this event,” he said.

Benhard is pleased with the development of their boxers and how they are learning from their seniors, which is something he said the club prides itself on and will continue to strive to nurture more fighters in the northern part of the country.

“We will always keep on having more amateur bouts, this will help us identify talents and also give them much needed exposure. During our previous professional fights, we had about 11 boxers that turned professional, which is a great number,” he added.

Tickets are pegged at N$50 for adults and N$10 for students.
