Redemtion time for wounded BA … But Rammies are certainly no pushover

WINDHOEK – With the stakes having been upped in the MTC Premiership title race Namibian champions Black Africa can no longer afford any slip-ups as they chase a successive quadruple league title that comes with a qualification spot for the one-off clash against Bidvest Cup winners in the newly introduced lucrative Standard Bank Super Cup.

Barring a miracle sequence of positive results for its title rivals, the Gemengde-based outfit looks destined to claim an unprecedented fourth league title and in the process rewrite the history books in domestic football by becoming the first football club in modern           history to achieve that feat.

Still licking their wounds following last weekend’s unceremonious exit from the Bidvest Cup at the hands of topflight minnows Tura Magic, Brian Isaacs’ wounded soldiers could not have asked for a better platform to redeem themselves than an intriguing MTC Premiership encounter against crosstown rivals Ramblers.

BA greet the much-improved Tunschell Street Boys at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight (20h00) but Isaacs’ charges could face a stern test of character against a rampant Ramblers side that has tasted defeat only once in their last seven league outings.

The Namibian champions were a pale shadow of their usual self with their fragile defence found wanting by an enthusiastic and merciless Tura Magic firing line in their last competitive match – going down 2-1 against the habitual party poopers.

Rammies will be without the services of defenders Ricardo Tjiuoro and Benji Ketjijere (both injured) and pocket size winger Donovan Swarts (suspension), while BA will have a full strength squad with the exception of burly skipper Dacosta Angula (suspension) and Muna Katupose (hamstring).
