Round four of the MTC Premiership saw defending champions African Stars dropping their first points of the current term when the Reds were held to a 1-all stalemate by league rookies Rundu Chiefs at the Rundu sports stadium yesterday.

In yesterday’s other action, Mighty Gunners had the better of the exchanges in their tie against the visiting Civics, coming out tops by 2 goals to 1 at the Mokati stadium.

Tigers remained unbeaten following a hard fought 1-all stalemate with Young Chiefs with Filemon Nambele netting for Ingwe, while Ferdinand Ndahangwapo replied for the hosts at the Uukwangula stadium outside Oshakati.

Black Africa hammered United Stars by three unanswered goals and Julinho Sporting defeated Flamingoes by a goal to nil in Rehoboth. Blue Waters defeated Unam 1-0.

Coastal giants Eleven Arrows enjoyed a good weekend – collecting four valuable points away from home. Arrows fashioned a well-deserved 1-all draw against Tura Magic, short on the heels of a 1-0 triumph over Unam.

Following a somewhat sluggish start to their league campaign that saw Civics draw both their opening games by their own standards, the Civilians dusted themselves off and dispatched Citizens by one goal without a reply, courtesy of Lewellyn Stanley’s lone strike – leaving the Citizens rooted to the bottom of the MTC Premiership log standings.

On Saturday, African Stars’ veteran striker Asprilla Wermann netted for the visitors to give the reigning champions a slender 1-0 win against Young Chiefs in round three of the MTC Premiership at the Uukwangula stadium outside Oshakati.

Elsewhere, a rejuvenated Tigers kept their unbeaten run intact by defeating league rookies Rundu Chiefs by an identical score. Flamingoes and United Stars cancelled each out with a goalless draw in Rehoboth.

Eleven Arrows caused the biggest upset when the seasiders beat Unam by a solitary goal away from home while Mighty Gunners and FNB Orlando Pirates played out a 2-all draw in Otjiwarongo. Black Africa netted two unanswered goals to see off a stubborn Julinho Sporting.

Paulus ‘Wire’ Shipanga’s mentored Tura Magic walloped LHU Blue Waters by 4 goals to 1. The result proved to be sweet revenge for Shipanga, who parted ways with the Birds on a sour note. Citizens and Orlando Pirates cancelled each other out in a 1-all stalemate.
