The Sanlam / Allianz Kavango East Teachers’ tournament concluded this past weekend at the Dr Romanus Kampungu Sports Stadium, where the Rundu circuit from Kavango East claimed victory in the football category.
In netball, the Ndiyona circuit successfully defended their title, while Rundu circuit continued their dominance in volleyball, securing the championship for the fourth consecutive year.
The tournament, which ran from 22 October, brought together teachers from both the Kavango East and West regions to compete for top honours in football, netball and volleyball.
Rundu circuit claimed the football crown, taking home N$10 000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. Ndiyona circuit earned N$6 000, a trophy, and gold medals for their netball victory, while Rundu also pocketed N$5 000, a trophy, and gold medals for winning the volleyball category.
SanlamAllianz once again sponsored the tournament to the value of N$100 000, maintaining the same level of support as last year. In 2024, the Rundu circuit won the football category, while Ncamagoro circuit from Kavango West clinched the netball title.
Chairperson of the organising committee, Chester Mutangara expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the event, describing it as a success.
“The main purpose of the tournament is to bring teachers together, to get to know one another, and to share common goals,” he said. – Nampa
