Labour, industrial relations and employment-creation minister Utoni Nujoma has appointed Kyllikki Sihlahla as Namibia’s labour commissioner, effective 1 June 2024.
Her appointment was made in terms of the Labour Act (2007), following recommendations by the Public Service Commission.
Sihlahla is not new to labour dispute resolution, as she rose through the ranks within the Office of the Labour Commissioner after serving as a deputy director responsible for the conciliation and arbitration division from October 2014 to December 2021 before being promoted to deputy labour commissioner in January 2022. She also served as acting labour commissioner from December 2023 to May 2024.
“The Ministry wishes Ms Sihlahla a successful journey, as she embarks on this huge exercise of contributing to harmonious labour relations in the country,” the ministry stated.
