SWAKOPMUND – The Swapo Party leadership in the Erongo Region has warned its members against partaking in mass land applications slated for tomorrow countrywide, saying those who ignore this warning will be identified and dealt with.

According to party regional co-ordinator, Phillipus Heita, Swapo members taking part in this action, organised by the Affirmative Repositioning movement, automatically violate the party’s code of conduct and its constitution, which are the guiding tools for all party members’ conduct.

“Let us not make Namibia ungovernable. There are laws in place, let’s just follow the policies and the law when applying for land,” he said.
Speaking at a press conference in Swakopmund yesterday, Heita said that the leadership does not support any sort of instigation against the government or the Swapo Party.

“This affirmative action, which was started by suspended SPYL member Job Amupanda – who gave himself the mandate to represent landless Namibians, is an effort to disrupt the peace and stability of our country,” Heita said.

“We reject such actions unconditionally. We want to caution Amupanda and those taking part in this action. Refrain from such action in the interest of national peace and stability.

“The Swapo Party does not support Amupanda’s action and anyone who wish to participate or are involved in this divisive project should understand that the Swapo Party-led government is the only one given the mandate to lead this country and its people,” he explained.

According to Heita, the land issue is being taken care of and therefore the country does not need individuals to do it for them.
“Everyone has the right to apply for land. Therefore, I would like to urge all Swapo leaders, supporters and Namibians to apply for land individually,” he added.
