WINDHOEK – Daisry Dumeni has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Team Namibia, replacing Lizette Foot who held the position from 2011 to date. “Team Namibia has a unique mandate to fulfil and its success is to the benefit and upliftment of our fellow countrymen. Just like Namibia, I feel youthful, positive about the future and I endeavour to use the energy and passion of my youth to serve and positively impact our national socio-economic development agenda,” said Dumeni.
The appointment was made at the Team Namibia’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) June 17, at the Windhoek Country Club Resort. The meeting investigated ways of obtaining increased market access for Namibian products and services.
More specifically, Team Namibia’s role in stimulating the increased consumption of local products and services among government, businesses and consumers, was deliberated. A panel discussion was held with a range of panel members to discuss this topic from different perspectives. Panellists included Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, Director of Transformation at Pick n Pay and Chairman of the Pick n Pay Foundation, Michael Iyambo, Chairman of the Namibian Agronomic Board’s National Horticultural Task Team, Monica Kalondo, Managing Director of Pointbreak and Jaco Venter, Managing Director of Plastic Packaging and board member of Team Namibia.
Dixon Norval, Vice Chairperson of Team Namibia, said with the organisation’s new brand, Team Namibia’s visibility needs to filter through to every aspect of Namibian life. “By simply buying Team Namibia, we can impact our country in greater ways one could ever imagine,” said Norval. He continued by saying that Team Namibia needs to educate consumers on their ability to change Namibia with one single purchase.
