Tigers out to maul tough nut Chula Chula

With both teams tied on 27 points, Tigers and Chula Chula will be out to seize the opportunity in the premier league this weekend to climb to the top of the standings.

The Shandumbala-based outfit, Tigers, will take on Chula Chula in what is anticipated to be the match of the week as the two sides are tied on points, but separated by goal difference.

Tigers will play KK Palace tomorrow before taking on Chula Chula in a blockbuster Sunday tie.

Speaking to this publication earlier this week, Jeremy Zimmer, one of the coaches at Tigers, described Sunday’s game against Chula Chula as a tough encounter where either team could emerge victorious.

“It’s a good fixture that every football fan in the country is looking forward to. However, this is a tie where we would like to claim the bragging rights. We have to ensure we go there and win this game for the fans, it’s a big game which needs big results,” he said.

The Shandumbala outfit this week welcomed another coach, James Britz, to their roster. According to Zimmer, Britz has joined the club at a perfect time, as his expertise will be required in a high-tempo match like their Sunday fixture.

“We have been joined by one of the best coaches in the country, and his inclusion in the team will help us get the results we want. The team is in good spirit, and we anticipate this match to turn out as we envision,” he said.

Tomorrow, at the SKW Stadium, FC Ongos will take on Chula Chula at 14h00, while Blue Waters will face Gobabis outfit Young African at 16h00 at Kuisebmond Stadium. At Vineta Stadium, Blue Boys will clash with African Stars at 16h00.

At Unam Stadium in the capital, Unam will take to the field to square off against Young Brazilian at 16h00. Bucks Buccaneers will take on Khomas Nampol at 13h00. At Nau-Aib Stadium, Okahandja United will play Cuca Tops in a match set to start at 15h00.

Mighty Gunners, on the other hand, will take on Julinho Sporting at 15h00 at Outjo Stadium.

Regarding their match, Fortune Eichab at Nampol said their goal is to finish in the top four, and they hope to collect points in their weekend fixture.

“It’s work in progress; you win some and lose some, and the same applies to this weekend. We take it as it comes.

But our overall goal is to collect maximum points in all our games this weekend,” he said.

Action will continue on Sunday with FC Ongos welcoming KK Palace at SKW Stadium at 15h30, while Blue Boys will take on Young African at Vineta Stadium at Swakopmund at 13h00.

At Walvis Bay, Blue Waters will take on African Stars in another jaw dropping encounter, set to commence at 14h00.

Buccaneers will play Young Brazilians at 13h00, at the Unam Stadium in Windhoek, while at 16h00 at the same venue, Unam will take on Khomas Nampol.

Okahandja United will welcome Cuca Tops at Nau-Aib Stadium at 13h00, while at Outjo, Gunners will square off against Julinho. -mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
