Home Sports Tigers, Pirates clash crucial in title chase

WINDHOEK – When two dogs fight over the same bone, chances are that a third is ready to snatch it from under their noses. Tura Magic’s recent showing has prompted the niggling question as to who will claim the coveted MTC Premiership title between Black Africa and title chasing Tigers, come end of the season.

Timo Tjingarero’s fired-up brigade could stage a late push for the title with teams above them unable to fashion out consistent results in recent outings and could have a big say in the final destination of the title. The youthful Katutura outfit is determined to stage a late push for the league title and that journey starts with tomorrow’s penultimate tie against the fast-improving LHU Blue Waters at the Kuisebmund Stadium in Walsvis Bay.

African Stars greet Civics at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek tonight while in tomorrow’s action, PC Blue Boys entertain relegation haunted Eleven Arrows at the Vineta sports grounds in Swakopmund. Relegation certainties Rundu Chiefs host Dawid Snewe’s United Stars in a local derby at the Rundu sports field tomorrow at 15h00. The pick of the weekend’s action is arguably the clash of the titans between title chasing Tigers and FNB Orlando Pirates at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tomorrow afternoon at 19h00.

The game will be preceded by the Namibia U-20 football team’s decisive 2nd leg Africa Youth Cup qualifier against the visiting Mozambique at 15h00.

Black Africa and Ramblers cancelled each other out in a 1-all stalemate in mid-week action with Thimotheus Hambunda putting the Tunschell Street Boys ahead before burly Capetonian Riaan Eugene netted from the rebound to give the Namibian champions a share of the spoils.
