Two robberies reported in Windhoek

The Khomas police are investigating two robberies that occurred on Monday in which a taxi driver was robbed of his vehicle, and a woman was robbed of her property while boarding a taxi.

Police spokesperson Silas Shipandeni said on that day at around 10h00 in Freedom Square, Katutura, a woman was robbed of her property while in a grey Toyota Corolla ‘Dankie Botswana’ taxi by three unknown men, who threatened her with a screwdriver. After robbing her, they also pushed her out of the vehicle.

“The complainant did not manage to take down the registration number of the taxi due to the circumstances. The complainant was robbed of her iPhone, laptop, gold watch and cash valued at N$18 000. No arrest and no recovery have been made yet, and investigations in this matter will continue,” he said.

Shipandeni added that some suspects then unlawfully and intentionally robbed a complainant of his car and his belongings in Otjomuise on the same day around 19h00 at the three-way stop of Sam Nujoma Drive and Katjikuru Katjiuongua Street.

A silver Toyota Corolla, registration number N75989W, with big number 698, a Huawei P19 cellphone and an unknown amount of cash were taken.

There has been no recovery or arrest made yet, and investigations into this matter will continue.
