WINDHOEK-The University of Namibia (Unam) Main Campus UNAM- Gym Hall is the main attraction this evening with the host of the annual Miss and Mr First Year 2015 beauty pageant.
Themed ‘Rise of Nations’ according to Tuikila Kaiyamo, a member of the Student Representative Council (SRC) for External Affairs, the beauty pageant is a way of creating opportunities and giving exposure to young individuals as they try to make a change in society.
“The Unam (SRC) named this as Miss and Mr Freshman, Rise of Nations, because the contestants will be wearing attires from several countries worldwide as a way of promoting international unity,” says Kaiyamo. He adds that the event’s moto is ‘Say no to Xenophobia’, which is to show our support for this cause as the African nations unite in the fight against xenophobia which has been happening in South Africa.
Audience will be entertained with a performance by the newly crowned Male Artist of the Year, Gazza, Exit and Paul da Prince. Tickets will be sold by the SRC and by the contestants with normal tickets going for N$50 and VIP’s for N$100. Doors open at six O’clock (18H00).
