This December, Zambezi Magic is set to close the year on a high note with a festive season filled with captivating local content.
In line with the channel’s commitment to “Sharing Our Stories”, Zambezi Magic is hosting a weekend movie festival showcasing films from Namibia.
Roger Gertze, Managing Director of MultiChoice Namibia, expressed pride in the impact of their investment in local films.
“As Africa’s most loved storyteller, we believe that MultiChoice Namibia has shifted the dial in the film and television industry this year,” he said.
The festival kicks off on 2 December at 20h30 with the Namibian film Chef’s Kiss. If you miss the initial airing, catch it again on 3 December at 18h30.
The story follows Naomi, an amateur chef entangled in a cooking competition with the need to settle her father’s gambling debt, adding a twist with romantic entanglements.
On 9 December at 20h30, the spotlight shifts to Okalila, another Namibian gem. For those who might miss it, there is a chance to watch it again on 10 December at 18h30. This film narrates the journey of a self-serving project coordinator navigating a village in northern Namibia to secure a promotion.
On 16 December at 20h30, Penda’s Dilemma will be screened, which is a gripping tale of a German-Namibian millionaire’s relentless pursuit to claim ancestral land for diamonds. If you miss it, catch the repeat on 7 December at 18h30.
Local actor/hip-hop artist Edwardo Lutete who acts in some of the movies, said the experience of working on the movies was humbling working and he believes that he has matured over the years with every role.
“I took the time to learn and research. Most directors and other actors in the various productions helped tremendously in my journey and I will forever be grateful. This is just the beginning for me, and I am a true believer in my ability to add significant value to the industry moving forward,” he said. The invitation is clear, gather your snacks and settle onto your couches this festive season as the Zambezi Magic Movie Festival unfolds.
