Wanderers aim to defend title against Kudus

Wanderers aim to defend title against Kudus

Defending champions FNB Wanderers Rugby Club will take on FNB Kudus Rugby Club at 15h45 tomorrow in the highly anticipated final of the 2025 Namibia Rugby Union league at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

Wanderers head coach Dirk Human expressed confidence ahead of the clash, highlighting his team’s remarkable run of 17 unbeaten matches leading up to the final.

“We’re excited to be back in the final. The energy within the team is great. We are in a good space,” he said.

“For Kudus, it’s their first time in a final. So, we’ll see how they handle the pressure. We’re well-prepared and know what to expect,” he added.

Human said experience is on their side, but they will not be taking their opponents lightly.

“We’ve featured in the final season and understand the intensity it brings. But Kudus are a strong team and deserve respect,” he stated.

Kudus’ director of rugby Roger Thompson said the camp is buzzing with excitement ahead of their historic appearance in the final.

“We’re immensely proud of the players. Their commitment to a shared vision over the past few months has been phenomenal. It’s an honour to coach them,” he said.

“We might be the only ones who believe we can pull off an upset, but we’ve embraced that. Preparation has remained focused and professional as we look forward to facing a quality side like Wanderers,” he remarked.

Saturday’s rugby action will kick off with the Unam Steenbokkies taking on United Gemsbokkies at 12h30 in the women’s league.

It will be followed by a clash between FNB Unam 2 and FNB Kudus 2 at 14h00.
