Despite missing a few key players due to personal commitments, Wanderers’ director of rugby Dirk Human is optimistic that they can collect maximum points when they square off against Trustco United at Wanderers Sport Ground at 15h45.

Wanderers currently sit atop the league standings, and are hoping to extend their lead this weekend when they face a resilient United side. 

The defending champions have accumulated 28 points from five games so far this season, and remain undefeated.

Human stated that his team has trained diligently this week to secure maximum points. 

He acknowledged the absence of some key players due to other personal commitments, but remains confident that those remaining in the team have what it takes to clinch victory on Saturday. 

Key players such as Danie van der Merwe, scrum half Raben Botha are all ruled out.

“I think the week went well. We are going to have a final training session today, but I am happy with the mood in the camp. The boys are happy and raring to go. We have a couple of boys out this weekend due to other commitments. I believe the ones left on the team will rise to the occasion, and win us the matchups,” he said.

Speaking about their opponents, he added: “I think they are a great team in great form. We, as a team, respect them, and are aware of what they are capable of. However, we must remain ready for each test that comes our way,” he added.

Jandre Lambrecht of United echoed similar sentiments, saying the matchup will be exciting but tough. 

“I believe both teams want maximum points. On our side, we are eyeing nothing but winning this Saturday’s matchups. It’s going to be tough and competitive, but we have to rise to the occasion,” he said.

In other matches scheduled for Saturday in the premier men’s division, Dolphins, who are currently at the bottom, will take on Grootfontein in Swakopmund at 15h45. 

Reho Falcon will then face Kudus in another exciting fixture in the top-flight league.

 Unam will square off against Rehoboth at the Unam Stadium at the same time.
