Warriors set for high stakes Kazakhstan test

Namibia’s senior national football team, Brave Warriors, is in Astana, Kazakhstan, where they will compete in the 2026 FIFA Series international friendlies.

The Brave Warriors will open their campaign against the hosts, the Kazakhstan national football team, today at the Astana Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 14h00 Namibian time.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin said the team is delighted to be in Kazakhstan and looks forward to the challenge.

“We are really happy to be here. We are looking forward to having a good football match and playing against your team,” said Benjamin.

He praised Kazakhstan’s organisation and tactical structure, noting that Namibia views the match as a valuable opportunity to measure itself against strong international opposition.

“The coach is doing a really good job with a good organisation and structure. We saw your last game against the Belgium national football team, and it showed good structure. For us, it is also an opportunity to measure ourselves against your team,” he said.

Benjamin emphasised that the Brave Warriors did not travel to Kazakhstan merely for the experience but are determined to compete seriously and showcase their squad’s potential.

“We are not really here to be tourists and admire everything here. We want to play football with a young team that wants to show itself. Most of the players are based at home in Namibia and want to present themselves in this opportunity,” he added.

After facing Kazakhstan, Namibia will return to the same venue on 28 March to take on the Comoros national football team in their second and final match of the FIFA Series tournament.
