WSL returns this weekend

WSL returns this weekend

After skipping games last weekend due to the stadia not having goalposts, the women’s topflight FNB Women Super League (WSL) will return this weekend.

Exciting games are scheduled for Saturday, action will be played across various venues in Namibia.

Defending champions Ongos Ladies will host Khomas Nampol Ladies at the Unam Stadium in the capital.

The match between the two teams is set to commence at 17h00.

Shama Gure, head coach of Ongos Ladies, said the tie between the two will be exciting, but they expect the match to be a tough one.

“We have our charges ready for this match. They are all mentally and physically ready. I expect my players to come to the party in this match. It’s a very crucial match that we need to collect maximum points,” the coach said. Reacting to their tie tomorrow, Nampol coach Novata Paulus told this publication how important tomorrow’s tie is in terms of getting the title hopes on course.

“Ongos is a strong team, and we respect them. We take them with caution. Their team consists of good players, but we are aware of that. We will ensure that we are ready for that match,” she said.

“This week, the team had very good training, and tested most of our players’ readiness. All have indicated their readiness. I believe we will go there with a plan. That’s what we are going to follow and execute our plan, as we need maximum points in the bag,” she added.

In the northern part of the country, African Stars Queens will take on Julinho Athletics at Uukwangula Stadium in a tie set to kick off at 11h00.

Meanwhile, Unam Bokkies will square off against Windhoek City at the same venue, with action expected at 14h00.

At the Namibia Football Association technical centre, V-Power Angels will take on Namib Daughters in another exciting match at 16h00.

Okahandja will lock horns against NUST Babes at Nau-aib Stadium.
