4500 runners register for Rössing marathon

The Rössing National Marathon has achieved a historic milestone, with 4 500 runners registered for the 10 km, 21.1 km, and 42.2 km races ahead of the event scheduled for 7 March in Swakopmund.

The turnout marks one of the largest in the marathon’s history and highlights the continued growth of the event, which has become a major fixture on Namibia’s road-running calendar.

Rössing Uranium continues to view the marathon as one of its flagship Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives.

In 2026, the company will contribute more than N$350 000 towards hosting the event and prize money, while all race registration fees will be donated to the Swakop Striders to support its community and development programmes.

Rössing Uranium’s corporate communications manager, Daylight Ekandjo, said the marathon remains a key investment for the company.

“For us, this marathon is about more than sport; it is about investing in people, promoting wellness, and strengthening community partnerships that create lasting value,” she said.

In addition to the competitive races, the event will feature a 5 km fun walk to encourage broader community participation. Proceeds from the fun walk will be donated to the Cancer Association of Namibia, reinforcing the marathon’s charitable focus.

For more than three decades, the Rössing National Marathon has brought together athletes, families, and communities from across Namibia and beyond, promoting healthy lifestyles, social cohesion, and community upliftment.
