The Tai ‘Exclusive fashion show under the theme ‘spring meets winter’ tomorrow at the NamPower Conversion Centre is a platform for Namibian designers to showcase their garments.
Pineha Nakaziko writes from Windhoek that the fashion show, has been hailed by its organisers as the first of its kind in terms of class, standard and the quality of the designs on exhibit. Taimi Sakeus, who initiated the event, explains that the show was established with the purpose of giving local designers an international platform at home. “I see potential in our designers, hence by [with an] event of this magnitude, [it] is also to welcome all the designers who believe in themselves and feel they have confidence in their crafts,” says Taimi.
To top it up, up to five local designers are going to have a different variety of designs and other accessories on catwalk. “Some designers will be showcasing evening gowns, African designs and ready to wear outfits. Basically, we are catering for everyone’s sense of style,” promises she. Other entertainment activities are on offer such as musical performances. “We will have A Jay, who is going to entertain the audience with his Afro-pop genre; 2tiko na Saima [who do] Afro-pop combined with Shambo to thrill the guests. We will also have Nena, who will be doing poetry and C Star who will be doing a live performance and a whole lot more,” she says.
Taimi is appealing to all fashion lovers to start supporting local products and by showing up in numbers for the event. Normal tickets for the show are N$150 and N$250 for VIPs. Doors open at seven O’clock (19h00) in the evening.
