Donkey Festival…(Part 1)

Home Time Out Donkey Festival…(Part 1)

This year’s Donkey Festival was horrendously sh*T!! No really…MANURE! If you were in attendance and you liked that…than we really need to ponder what quality really means in this country. What made this year’s edition such a disaster according to “Mighty” NSK’s standards?

Allow me to contextualise that gemors that took place last weekend.

Venue: Katutura Complex Stadium. This stadium is notoriously known to have inadequate lighting or in this case, a COMPLETE ABSENCE OF LIGHT! For an event organiser, this should already scream “DAY EVENT, NOT NIGHT”. This is the type of venue that really does not allow your event to run into the late PMs because it does not have lights! The Stadium is notoriously situated at the back (deep in the bushes nogal, mbuae Operation Omake needs to intervene there) of the complex. This means one needs to drive a small distance from where you eventually enter the premises. This, assuming that you have a vehicle. If you do not have a vehicle, brace yourself for an Olympic style of a marathon walk through a very scary looking scenery to the actual entrance of the stadium. Imagine having to do that at night.

There are no signs to direct a first timer to the stadium. On my way out, I counted seven vehicles that kept driving into the wrong alley, where they were forced to revers and somehow magically figure out the correct route to the stadium. Again. At night with inadequate lighting from the main entrance to the stadium gate.

Entrance: So I get to the gate and found two mean mugging bouncers looking at me as if I owe them money. I walk to them, greet them and surprise surprise… no response. So I’m like…um ok. And I enter! After a few steps I hear somebody screaming and calling after me to pay at the gate. I had no issue paying entrance. My problem was that the gate had no visible process in place that would’ve suggested that I needed to pay at the gate.

Because I just found two mean mugging bouncers there. No person to do the actual accounting and greet and welcoming….(To be continued)
