Query: I have to repay the whole study loan to NSFAF, but upon completion when I applied for my N$6 000 refund on my Unam account, Unam said they had sent the money back to the ministry. Minister of Higher Education, please intervene and clarify this issue. Unam robbed us and they must refund us soon.

Response: The Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation would like to advise students to engage with the University of Namibia Bursar officials regarding this concern or contact Mr Job Jansen. Tel: 061 206 3111.

Query: Minister of Higher Education, please rescue me from Unam. I registered at Unam in 2011 and I paid N$2 000 for registration. I only did my assignments for the first term and I terminated my studies because of financial problems. They are asking me to pay N$12 000, their reason being that I did not inform them about my termination. I did not inform them because I was not aware of the requirement. When I registered, they did not inform me that if I terminate my studies, I will still have to pay. They are now threatening to blacklist me.

Response: All students are expected to notify the faculty officer when cancelling studies. Simply staying away is not considered as cancellation because the university has no way of knowing if a student is merely absent, or has discontinued the course. The Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation encourages the student to contact Ms Gases 061 206 3786 or Ms Aune Sam 061 206 3214

Query: Namibia Training Authority, we trainees of DAPP VTC are tired of not having our certificate for office administration and ICT level 1. You have been delaying us since 2013 until now. Minister of Higher Education, please help us.

Response: The NTA is not aware of any outstanding certificates for trainees who completed their training at the DAPP Vocational Training Centre. We encourage the affected trainees to approach the centre and enquire about their certificates, or alternatively, contact NTA Assessment and Certification Division at 061-2078 569”
