WINDHOEK– Five -year -old Nathan Rusberg, from Omaruru has been announced the lucky winner of the N$20 000 prize in the Bank Windhoek Solo Competition, which ran from 17 January 2015 to 1 March 2015.
The prize couldn’t come at a right time as Nathan celebrated his birthday on March 13. Nathan is a pre-primary school learner at Alpha and Omega Kindergarten in Omaruru. His mother opened a Bank Windhoek Solo account for him at the Omaruru Branch on 25 February, just three days before the competition’s closing date. The prize money will be used to pay for any academic related expenses, such as school fees, school stationary, sport equipments, textbooks and club membership fees, amongst others.
Receiving the prize, Nathan’s mother, Angela Rusberg, thanked Bank Windhoek for hosting the competition. “I am so excited for my child. I never expected for him to win as I only opened the Solo account to be able to put money away for his future and for him to use once he is old enough to do so. This is really a nice surprise and a great birthday gift for my son. Thank you Bank Windhoek.”
“Bank Windhoek is excited for Nathan’s mother, as this prize money will surely be relief on their family budget. We are also excited for Nathan as the money will be used for his educational costs, especially at this stage of his life, when it is important to lay the foundation for learning and development. This will also be the start of his exposure to the world of banking by teaching him about money, the benefits of saving and managing his bank account, to become a financially savvy adult”, said Marike de Jager, Head: Brand Marketing at Bank Windhoek.
