Okatyali to receive flood boats

The Okatyali constituency, which is prone to floods, is ready for the impending rainy season, says constituency councillor Joseph Mupetami.

He said the constituency will receive a number of small boats very soon from a company in Lüderitz, in addition to the ones that the constituency already owns.

Mupetami said his people are busy being equipped with the necessary skills such as swimming and rescuing to survive the floods.

He further said some residents are busy constructing crossing points.

Mupetami added that Okatyali’s citizens are also prepared for the ploughing season and are eager to get to work in their fields now before the flood arrives.

“I want the government to start setting up plans to supply seeds to the community so they can begin sowing after they have begun ploughing. In addition, plans should be made for the government tractors to begin ploughing and for individuals with personal tractors to begin applying so they can plough for neighbours,” he said.
