The final and 10th edition of the Dr Hage Geingob Cup is scheduled for Saturday at Independence Stadium.
This last chapter of the tournament, which has united Namibians through football, has received a cash boost of N$1.5 million from Namibia Breweries Limited.
Amos Shiyuka reflected on the Cup’s history, noting that in 2014, an agreement was made with the organising committee, the sponsors, the Namibia Football Association and the late president to hold it for 10 years.
He expressed gratitude to the NFA for supporting the project, and granting the organising committee permission to
initiate it.
Bronwyn Moody, representing Bank Windhoek, one of the Cup’s sponsors, shared the bank’s pride in being part of this journey and supporting the organising committee in making the Cup a reality.
The day’s events will feature three matches, culminating in the highly-anticipated clash between defending champions Eeshoke Chula Chula and African Stars.
Chula won last year’s encounter against Stars 1-0.
Before the main event, a women’s match between Girls and Goals and Ongos Ladies will highlight the talent of Namibian female footballers.
The day will kick off with an exhibition match between Omake Celebrities and Danger Point Celebrities.
Tickets for the Cup are available for N$30 on Webtickets at any NFA office, and at Pick n’ Pay stores across the country.
