Namibia’s undefeated boxers Paulinus Ndjolonimus and Mateus ‘Beats’ Heita are set to face two of the toughest tests of their professional careers this month.
Major international bouts are lined up in Germany and the United States.
Ndjolonimus, boasting a record of 19 wins from 19 fights, left the country yesterday for Germany.
There, he will take on fellow unbeaten boxer Simon Zachenhuber. The German fighter holds an equally impressive record of 27 wins from 27 bouts.
The two will face off for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title at the SNP Dome in Heidelberg this Saturday.
Meanwhile, Heita will travel to New York City tomorrow for his WBC interim world title showdown against America’s Bruce Carrington on 26 July.
Both fighters carry unbeaten records – Heita with 14 wins and Carrington with 15.
Speaking during the send-off, award-winning coach and promoter Nestor Tobias expressed full confidence in the boxers’ readiness.
“We’ve done our part in preparing these boys. They’ve been in training for over six months. At this stage, it’s just about getting in the ring and executing.
I’m confident we can secure a win in Germany and finish the job in New York,” he said. He highlighted the importance of both bouts for the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy.
“These are major fights for the stable. We’ve put in the work, and we are going there to win.
Final touch-ups are being done. The team is well-prepared and well-resourced for both assignments,” he added.
Ndjolonimus will be accompanied by Tobias and Michael Shange to Germany.
Siegfried ‘SBK’ Kaperu and Nicky Natangue will travel with Heita to the United States.
