The Kavango East Regional Second Division Football League concluded its 2024/2025 season on Sunday, with Rundu Unam FC emerging as the champions and securing a promotional play-off spot to the North East First Division.
Known as the Clever Boys, the champions claimed the title after completing 22 matches, accumulating 46 points from 14 draws and four wins, just two points ahead of Once Again, who achieved 13 victories, five draws, and four losses.
On Sunday, a challenging match took place between the top two teams, with Once Again defeating Rundu Unam FC 2-1; however, this victory was not enough for Once Again to overtake the Clever Boys, who maintained a comfortable five-point lead before the final game.
Kangcuva Nyaka-Nyaka, a team that began the season poorly, managed to finish in third place with 38 points, having secured 10 wins, eight losses, and four draws, capping off the season with a 1-0 victory over Gumma Golden City. Additionally, Sunday results featured Stranger Boys defeating Bingo FC in a thrilling 3-2 match, which allowed them to finish the season in the top four with 37 points. Last season’s strong contenders, New Poison FC and Young Elephants, despite their struggles, were able to avoid relegation.
The two teams ended the season in the middle of the table, with New Poison FC in fifth place with 33 points, while Young Elephants finished sixth with 29 points. However, both teams lost their final matches, with New Poison falling to Ndinoveshi 2-0 and Young Elephants losing to Divayi 2-1.
Gumma Golden City ended the season in seventh place with 25 points, followed by Ndinoveshi in eighth with 23 points, and Divayi trailing behind with 20 points.
The end of the season also marked the downfall of three Rundu-based teams: Bingo FC, who finished in 10th place with 19 points, Sunrise in 11th with 17 points, and Clever Boys, who also managed only 17 points. All three teams were relegated to the Kavango East Western Stream 3rd division. – Nampa
