The well-known LDV brand, which was historically part of the Rover Group in the United Kingdom, is winning over the hearts and minds, and perhaps most importantly, wallets, of Namibian consumers by giving prospective buyers what they want. That is power, affordability and reliability, which are three characteristics quickly making LDV a local household name.
Starting at under N$480 000 for the LDV T60 Elite 4X4, the T60 PRO (Automatic) is going for under N$500 000 while the top of the range T60 PRO MAX is now being offered for around N$650 000. This compares quite favourably to similar offers in the market, considering the T60’s two litre Twin Turbo Diesel produces an impressive 160Kw and 500Nm. This power output is complemented by a six-speed manual or eight-speed Automatic ZF transmission.
“LDV is superbly oriented for the Namibian market. LDV is a British company founded in the 1960s that is now Chinese owned. They have several decades of pickup experience,” said LDV Namibia sales manager Karl-Heinz Eisenberg.
“The MAX LUX and the PRO MAX engines feature a bi-turbo, 160Kw engine, which is being very well received by the Namibian market. They have lots of power, good pricing and good warranties. This brand has a solid path for the future with the backing of M&Z Motors,” Eisenberg added.
LDV currently offers a five year 200 000km warranty, backed up by a five year 100 000km service plan and supported by five year 200 000km roadside assistance.
The LDV PRO MAX is available with automatic four wheel drive with low range, and some of the features include 17-inch alloy wheels a rear view camera. LED headlights, four wheel disc brakes and rear diff lock.
The T60, available at LDV Namibia is the apex of LDV’s T60 range. The top of the range bakkie boasts reliable 4×4 and general offroad capability coupled with a suite of advanced features including a 360-degree camera.
The T60 Bakkie range is designed for those who demand more from their vehicles. Available in multiple models, including the T60 Pro, Elite, and Max, each variant is engineered to cater to varying needs, from heavy-duty work to adventurous off-roading.
With LDV’s latest range of dependable and powerful workhorses, each T60 model is also equipped with three-ton braked towing capacity, a touch-screen entertainment system, six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, smart phone connectivity with apple carplay and cruise control.
With these features as standard, the LDV vehicles rate comfortably high on luxury, reliability and affordability.
The LDV Group, formerly Leyland DAF Vans, was a British van manufacturer based in Washwood Heath, Birmingham. After the global financial crisis in 2008 and due to a lack of long-term investment, production was suspended at the LDV factory in December 2008. After a series of failed rescue attempts, the intellectual property rights were sold to SAIC Motor in 2010, with its Maxus subsidiary commencing production in China in March 2011.
Overall, LDV is becoming a truly trusted name in the domestic automotive industry and is becoming increasingly popular for producing dependable vehicles for everyday driving, work projects, and off-road adventures.
