Senior national champs get recognition

The Frank Fredericks Foundation (FFF) rewarded three senior athletes with scholarships. This is after they performed exceptionally in the 2025 Athletics Namibia Senior Championships.

In the women’s category, Jade Nangula from the Unam Athletics Club delivered exceptional results, clocking 11.67 seconds in the 100 metres (m) and 23.82 seconds in the 200m. Her consistent excellence on the track earned her a scholarship of N$20 000 from the Foundation.

In the men’s category, Magano Naseb of the Oceans Athletics Club claimed the 100m title with a time of 10.42 seconds, while Charley Matundu, also hailing from Unam Athletics Club, impressed in the 200 m, finishing in 20.89 seconds. Both athletes received a N$10 000 scholarship respectively in recognition of their achievements.

Elvis Gaseb, the national record holder in the 400m from Dome Athletics Academy, delivered an exceptional performance by winning the 400 m in 45.89 seconds.
In acknowledgement of his achievement and continued excellence in athletics, Gaseb has also been awarded a N$10 000 scholarship.

During a meet and greet with the Frank Fredericks Foundation on Wednesday, scholarship recipient Nangula expressed her heartfelt gratitude.

“I am incredibly grateful to the Frank Fredericks Foundation for your support. It is truly an honour to be recognised and supported by an organisation that empowers Namibian athletes to pursue their dreams both in sports and academically,” she said.

Gaseb said he is grateful and excited for this opportunity. “It’s an honour to be recognised by the FFF, and I am motivated to work even harder and make the most of it,” he said. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
