Tigers, Unam brace for thrilling encounter

Football fans are in for an exciting afternoon as Shandumbala giants Tigers prepare to face the Clever Boys of Unam FC today at the Independence Stadium in the Namibia Premier Football League.

The clash promises to deliver end-to-end action, with both teams eager to secure maximum points and build momentum early in the season.

Unam FC head coach Robert Nauseb, a seasoned tactician and former Brave Warriors player, acknowledged the tough challenge that lies ahead against a well-organised Tigers side.

“Tigers are a difficult opponent to play against. They are a very dangerous team with a lot of experience. We will also be facing one of the most experienced coaches in Namibian football, so it’s not going to be easy,” he said.

Nauseb added that his team will approach the game cautiously, focusing on their own performance rather than Tigers’ current position on the log.

“We are not looking at their situation or where they are on the table. Every team in this league is capable of causing an upset. It’s our wish to win, and we’ll go all out to get the three points,” he said.

Reflecting on his squad’s progress, Nauseb highlighted the steady growth of his players over the past few seasons.

“I’ve been building this team for about three years now, and the boys are improving with every match. We’ve developed a strong identity. Once you wear the Unam shirt, you play the Unam way,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Nauseb noted that the team’s next fixture, against Young African on Sunday, would also be a stern test.

“They’re a tough opponent, but we’re looking forward to it. These are the kind of matches that help us measure our progress,” he added.

Elsewhere, another mouth-watering fixture will see KK Palace go head-to-head with Mammie Kasaona’s well-drilled Blue Waters outfit.

KK Palace head coach Anderson Phiri said his side is determined to stay focused across both of their weekend fixtures.

“We have two important matches this weekend. The league has just started, and we’re on the right track so far. We want to take each game as it comes, continue improving, and compete against ourselves to get better with every performance,” he said.
