Round 17 and 18 are slated for this weekend in the Namibia Premier Football league.
Young African’s head coach Marley Ngarizemo has set the tone for a high-stakes weekend, admitting his side faces a stern test against KK Palace and Eeshoke Chula Chula, but insisted they are ready to rise to the occasion.
He described upcoming opponents KK Palace as one of the league’s strongest outfits, noting that despite recent coaching changes, they remain a formidable force.
He stressed that thorough preparation will be key if his team is to overcome them.
The coach acknowledged that they have endured a painful start to the campaign, losing their opening two matches — a setback he labelled one of the club’s worst runs in recent history. However, he believes the squad has begun to stabilise after grinding out a hard-fought draw against Tigers, a side he described as tough given their current form and standing.
Ngarizemo revealed that injuries and permit issues have forced adjustments within the squad, but he is optimistic about having a full team available for the weekend fixtures. He also expressed confidence in the B-Field venue, saying the pitch is in good condition and capable of hosting quality football.
Having drawn with both opponents earlier in the season, he declared that the mission now is simple — collect maximum points.
He also called on supporters to turn out in numbers, urging fans to bring N$40 for entry and create an electric atmosphere. According to him, strong attendance could even influence future high-profile fixtures being hosted at the venue.
Meanwhile, with Bob Mafoso the head coach of African Stars leaving for Lesotho, Agnus Elemu the interim coach cautioned that their away matches in Rundu will be anything but straightforward.
He warned that teams fighting near the bottom of the table often pose the biggest danger because they are desperate for survival. Still, he remains confident in his squad’s momentum, stressing that consistency is vital as rivals continue to chase them at the top.
