Auleria Wakudumo
The weekend crime report was predominantly marked by housebreaking cases, stock theft, attempted murder, suicide, negligent driving, inquests and hunting of huntable game permits.
House breaking
In Windhoek West, suspects cut the roof to enter the house, disabled the alarm system and stole valuable items worth N$90 800. In Khomasdal, suspects opened the window of the house to gain entrance and stole items valued at N$22 700. At the Ehangano location in Outjo, suspects gained entry into the shebeen and stole items valued at N$44 240. At the Ngweze location in the Zambezi region, the suspect broke the door and stole items valued at N$10 000. At Okaongo kaKaholongo Cuca Shops in Outapi, suspects broke into a shebeen and stole items worth N$1 798.
Stock theft
It is alleged that a 50-year-old man was found in possession of half a carcass of dried meat valued at N$10 000 by police officers, which was illegally slaughtered at a complainant’s farm. At Olupumbu la Shinyemba village in the Oshana region, it is alleged that the suspect took an cattle from the kraal and drove them to the unoccupied camp and slaughtered two oxen and two cows valued at N$40 000.
Inquest
The police reported that Velarius Mangundu Shinyembo (80) years old was found dead by the family members while another pensioner, a 73-year-old identified as Bertha Uises, fainted at home and was declared dead at the scene. Meanwhile, it is alleged that a 28-year-old Salomo Sheehama Alweendo was found hanging from a Mopane tree.
Attempted murder
At the DRC location in Swakopmund, it is alleged that an unknown suspect stabbed a 26-year-old in the neck for unknown reasons. The suspect is still on the run.
Police warning
Home and property owners are urged to remain vigilant and take all measures possible to prevent housebreaking incidents, including not leaving their properties unattended. Avoid leaving valuables in plain sight of others, like cash money in the store/bar. –awakudumo@nepc.com.na
