Gobabis Sports Club continued to stamp its authority in the Namport Omaheke Second Division with a commanding 2-0 victory over Epako Pirates on Sunday.

Playing in front of a packed Legare Sport Complex, the log leaders delivered another polished performance, with goals from Kejavaza Kejaa Mungendje and Vakuna Murangi securing all three points.

The win keeps Gobabis SC’s flawless record intact, with all eight of their matches this season won.

In their debut campaign in the region’s second-tier league, Gobabis SC have emerged as the team to beat, sitting comfortably at the top of the standings with 24 points. Their consistency and early dominance have already positioned them as strong contenders for promotion.

Head coach Karee Hengari said the team’s strong start is no coincidence, but rather the result of clear objectives set at the beginning of the season.

“We made a commitment to remain competitive in this league, and we are working hard to honour that. We want to avoid late pressure, which is why we are pushing from the start,” he said.

Hengari credited the team’s unity and discipline for their success, noting a strong sense of togetherness within the squad. He also cautioned that the league remains competitive, and complacency could prove costly.

Midfielder Murangi, who has now scored three goals in his last two matches, attributed his fine form to teamwork and motivation from the technical staff.

“I’m happy with how things are going and hope to keep contributing to the team’s success,” he said.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Kanaan United edged Epako Pirates 5-3, while Desert Rollers defeated Tough Guys 3-0. Eastern Chiefs, Golden Boys and Omaheke SC also recorded important victories, rounding off an action-packed weekend of football in the region.
