MTC invests N$625m in digital infrastructure

Telecommunications giant MTC has committed to a massive investment of more than N$625 million to ultimately enhance its network performance, expand connectivity and enable future-ready digital services across the country. The significant capital expenditure (CAPEX) budget of N$625 million for the 2025/26 financial year aims to strengthen the domestic digital and telecommunications landscape through strategic infrastructure investment and technological advancement.

MTC revealed the development recently during an ICT high-level stakeholder engagement held in Oshakati.

“This capital allocation is supporting initiatives such as network optimisation and modernisation, information and communication technology (ICT) upgrades, transmission expansion, construction of new network towers, and power infrastructure investments for network sites,” said MTC’s chief brand, marketing, communications, and sustainability officer, Tim Ekandjo.

Recognising the importance of resilient and sustainable operations, MTC also stated it will invest in power infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving operational continuity and strengthening network resilience across its footprint.

“In line with our strategic rollout plan, we will continue constructing new network towers and expanding transmission infrastructure to support increasing data demand and improve nationwide connectivity. This investment is particularly important in extending network coverage to underserved and remote areas, ensuring broader access to reliable telecommunications services for all Namibians,” said Ekandjo.

A portion of the allocated capital provides funding for new strategic business initiatives aligned with MTC’s long-term growth objectives and innovation agenda.

Through this substantial investment, MTC continues to cement its position as a premier enabler and driver for digital transformation and socio-economic development, while reinforcing its commitment to delivering world-class telecommunications and ICT services to customers nationwide.
