A 13-year-old boy tragically died on the spot after he was electrocuted in Ohangwena Region over the weekend when he tried to grab and pull certain live electrical wires. The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 18h30 at Okahenge Village in Omungwelume.
“It is alleged the deceased climbed onto a marula tree and pulled live electrical wires that run through the poles. He got electrocuted and died at the scene of the incident,” said Nampol spokesperson Inspector Slogan Matheus, who identified the deceased boy as Henock Sallatiel.
In unrelated matter, a vehicle parked outside a church was stolen on Saturday evening. The incident happened at Reservation Church at Katwitwi location.
Matheus said the owner of the vehicle parked it outside the church and went inside to attend the service, but when he came out, the vehicle was nowhere to be found. The stolen vehicle is a white Toyota Corolla sedan, 2009 model.
In Kavango Region, a 37-year-old man shot at a group who were trying to attack him on Saturday evening and the bullet struck a 21-year-old man in the neck. “It is alleged the firearm jammed and at that moment the group that wanted to attack him allegedly grabbed the firearm from him and assaulted him with fists and stones,” Matheus said.
He added that the 37-year-old shooter and 21-year-old gunshot victim were both admitted to Rundu State Hospital, where they are both said to be in serious condition. due to the injuries sustained.
