Swakopmund

Art lovers are now spoilt for choice, and viewers visiting this website are in for a feast of 41 brilliant paintings, as well as dozens of pieces of ceramics, pottery and photography. Artist participating in this first time platform are from around the country, and have joined forces to help raise funds towards the Have-A-Heart (HAH) Spay and Neuter Clinic in Outjo, for the benefit of township animals.

Mastermind of this online art exhibition, is Outjo artist and animal activist Lindie Prinsloo. She has combined her graphic design expertise to set up the ‘Art-With-A-Heart’ website, together with her fund raising abilities for the HAH project, which has become a national sterilization campaign for underprivileged animals over the years. She explains that each exhibitor has donated at least one piece of art they are selling towards the cause, and that the Art-With-a-Heart online exhibition is supported by artists who care about animal welfare in Namibia. Already the public have expressed a lot of interest, with works of art already snapped up.

The profits of this exhibition will go directly to the Have-a-Heart Spay and Neuter Clinic in Outjo, and Prinsloo is hoping to raise at least N$20 000, which will be used towards officiating the recently renovated non-profit animal clinic as a permanent facility, plus fitting it out with the required veterinary equipment. “I am hoping this online exhibition trend is going to catch on, as ultimately I want to turn this into an annual event,” says Prinsloo, who is the founder and CEO of the HAH Project, which she started in Outjo in 2012. The project has to-date sterilised thousands of township animals countrywide, for owners who would otherwise not be able to afford a veterinary care for their pets.

Participating artists are not only exhibiting amazing variety to the platform, but bring some big names in the art world, namely Nicky Marais, Anita Roux, Betsy van Rensburg, Heidi Louw, Lukas Amakali, Sonia Bergh, Wilma de Bruin, Betsy van Rensburg and Lindie Prinsloo herself. All information can be found on the website, as well as full colour illustrations of each piece of art, that are currently still available ; www.art-with-a-heart.com. The exhibition runs till September 30.
