Allow me space in your esteemed newspaper to respond to the letter titled ‘Nepotism rife in Zambezi education directorate’ (New Era, August 7, 2015).
Samupwa Phillip Kabano, who is referred to in the article, is now a temporary teacher at Ngweze primary school. It is not true that he did not do Silozi, because I was in the same class with him at Sangwali Secondary School. We have teachers in this region, who only completed six-months’ training at Tutaleni, but the author does not seem to be concerned about this fact.
Regarding promotions, this is done on the basis of an individual’s qualifications and their track record of hard work, unlike before, when people got promoted based on their tribal identities.
We are glad there is better tribal balance now in the region. The author should have done better research before going to newspapers to make unsubstantiated claims. This is a case of pure jealousy, because the author last year de-campaigned other people during a congress in Windhoek.
He is simply not happy seeing others making progress in life. Engineers of tribalism, like him, must be condemned with the contempt they deserve.
