ONGWEDIVA – All foreign-registered motor vehicles driven on Namibian roads must pay road-user fees. These fees are set by the Road Fund Administration (RFA) and are mainly paid at the point of entry, which is our border posts.

The Namibian Police has the mandate to police all vehicles in Namibia. Should a motorist fail to pay the road-user fee or fail to produce proof that he/she has paid, among other charges, the police will issue a fine.

Below are the consequences of breaking the RFA laws.

Failed to pay entry fee                                 N$1 000

Operator or owner of a foreign motor vehicle failed to pay the entry fee to the RFA.

Certificate not in the car                                       N$500

Failed to keep the entry fee certificate in the motor vehicle concerned at all times while in Namibia.

Entering Namibia without payment                         N$1 000

Foreign motor vehicle entered Namibia without paying the prescribed entry fee.

Failed odometer reader                                        N$500

Operator of foreign motor vehicle failed to ensure that the odometer of such motor vehicle is at all times operational.

 

No information plate on vehicle                             N$500

Foreign motor vehicle not fitted with an information plate in a conspicuous position on the left side thereof.
